Lotus Cars USA, Inc.
When introduced to the U.S. market in 2004, the lightweight, 190hp Lotus Elise fulfilled the dreams of thousands of serious driving enthusiasts. At the time the Elise was the first new U.S. model from Lotus in 15 years and marked the company's return to prominence in the North American sports car market.
Remaining true to the philosophy of company founder Colin Champan, the Elise's pure handling and performance was like driving a street-legal racing car. That tradition continues for 2007, but with several improvements appealing to a wider market.
Headlights have been redesigned and are now fully compliant with U.S. government regulations. The new three-element units (previously two element) offer improved lighting performance, easier maintenance and simple aiming procedures. The front end was also revised to accommodate the new lamps, so retrofits are not possible.
The 2007 Elise also gets upgraded audio system options from Alpine, an industry leader in mobile media technology. Base Elise models will be equipped with the 180-watt Alpine CDE-9842 AM/FM/CD receiver and four speakers. Touring and Premium Pack models are fitted with the High Definition (HD) and satellite-radio ready Alpine CDA-9856 AM/FM/CD receiver with iPod(TM) adapter and four speakers. These systems feature easy-to-use controls and well-lighted displays, plus antennas hidden under the dashboard that will not detract from the Elise's sleek lines.
The rest of the Elise remains unchanged from 2006, including its award-winning, epoxy-bonded, extruded aluminum chassis, RTM Composite body panels, Probax(TM) anatomical seat padding, incredible performance and frugal fuel mileage.
Pricing for the 2007 Elise starts at $43,990.
