New 2WD Option Enhances Drivability and Value
Newly standard across all trim levels for 2020 is a two-wheel drive (2WD) variant of the modern and sporty Eclipse Cross. With well-established performance credentials, Mitsubishi has applied lessons learned through years of championship-winning rally and off-road racing programs, to ensure that this new 2WD system lives up to the brand's reputation. Standard Active Yaw Control (AYC) delivers improved stability and driving confidence through AYC's traction-sensitive smart application of braking force to either the left or right front wheel during simultaneous cornering and acceleration. Fully automatic and invisible to the driver, the system maximizes traction and driver confidence in all situations.
Emphasis on Active Safety Equipment
For 2020, Eclipse Cross brings newly optional active safety equipment to SE and SEL trim levels, offering buyers easier access to important advanced driver assistance systems across a wider variety of price lines.1
SE and SEL trims now feature Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) with Pedestrian Detection2, Lane Departure Warning (LDW)3 and Automatic High Beams (AHB)4 as standard equipment. SE and above trims continue to offer other safety features as standard equipment, including Blind Spot Warning (BSW) with Lane Change Assist (LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Buyers looking for additional safety options can select the available Touring Package on the SEL trim, which adds Forward Collision Mitigation with High Speed Braking Capability (FCM-HSB) with Pedestrian Detection Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to its impressive safety roster.
Slick Coupe Styling in a Capable CUV Package
The Eclipse Cross continues as the standard-bearer for Mitsubishi styling, technology and driving confidence in the form of a nimble-yet-capable CUV. The bold design cues strike an imposing figure on the road, helping Eclipse Cross stand out from the crowd.
The Eclipse Cross' coupe form is distinguished by its wedge profile with distinctive beltline and strong character line; a forward raked rear window; the angular rear gate and short overhang. The front of the Eclipse Cross features Mitsubishi's signature Dynamic Shield design that conveys strength and confidence.
The unique rear design is distinguished by high-mounted, stretched rear lamps that horizontally divide the forward-raked rear window. When illuminated, the tubular LED brake lights and the central LED high-mount stop light form a single bar of light running across the tail, giving Eclipse Cross a broad and stable appearance from the rear.
A Connected and Driver-Oriented Cockpit
The cockpit-style interior of the Eclipse Cross continues into 2020 with a driver-focused interior that carries forward the sporty theme of all Mitsubishi vehicles. Inside, the Eclipse Cross features high-grade materials, with SEL trims now including a black headliner and door pillars that deliver a more upscale feel. Base LE trims now offer standard heated front seats.
An optional high-resolution, thin display is mounted atop the instrument panel. This 7-inch monitor houses the audio system controls and is compatible with Apple CarPlay(TM)5 and Android Auto(TM)6, enabling control of apps via voice recognition through Google Assistant or Siri. The smartphone link display can also be controlled with a touchpad controller, which allows for tap/swipe operation and ease of use while driving.
Eclipse Cross also features a full-color Head-Up Display (HUD) that provides the driver with real-time vehicle information. The system consists of a full color LCD display that is mounted just beyond the steering wheel and close to the driver's line of sight, allowing easier driving by minimizing the change of eye focal length. The HUD provides driving information and critical safety messages to the driver, such as: speed, cruise control setting, Forward Collision Mitigation warnings, Lane Departure Warnings and paddle-shift gear position. The HUD system is standard on SEL models. The display includes brightness and height adjustment switches and an up/down switch that allows the driver to disable the display if desired.
In the back of the Eclipse Cross, heated rear seats are available as part of the SEL Touring Package. The rear seats also offer multiple seating adjustments for maximum utility. The rear seat back angle has nine reclining positions and can slide forward-backward up to nearly eight inches to balance passenger comfort and cargo capacity needs.
New for 2020, Eclipse Cross SE now offers an optional $1,000 Panoramic Sunroof and Roof Rails package, which features a panoramic sunroof with dual-pane, large power-sliding glass panels with tilt and slide capability. The front panel can open up to 17 inches. SEL trims with the Touring Package also come equipped with the panoramic sunroof.
Responsive and Efficient Driving with a 1.5 Liter Turbo Engine
Under the hood, the Eclipse Cross comes standard with a 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo engine that offers a compelling combination of drivability, performance and efficiency. This turbo technology provides both strong torque and better fuel efficiency with 152 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 184 lb.-ft. of torque between 2,000 to 3,500 RPM. It features advanced technology such as sodium-filled exhaust valves to provide the very best performance and efficiency in the Mitsubishi lineup.
MITSUBISHI CONNECT
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross features the MITSUBISHI CONNECT7 interface that provides vehicle owners with a safe, secure and personalized driving experience powered by a subscription-based 4G LTE service. Two in-vehicle buttons connect the vehicle to a call center - one being the SOS Emergency Assistance button and the other an Information/Roadside Assistance button. The Safeguard services package within MITSUBISHI CONNECT includes Automatic Collision Notification, SOS Emergency Assistance, Information Assistance, Roadside Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, Alarm Notification and Mileage Tracker. The Remote services package include Remote Climate Control, Remote Door Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn, Remote Lights, Car Finder, Vehicle Settings, and Parental Controls (Geo Fence, Speed Alert and Curfew Alert).
New for 2020, MITSUBISHI CONNECT now offers enhanced vehicle status report features that provide drivers real-time updates about vehicle status directly on their smartphone. Additionally, the vehicle is now capable of Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) updates that can deliver firmware updates to the system via the My MITSUBISHI CONNECT app.
The service comes with a two-year trial subscription on all equipped 2020 Eclipse Crosses, and is available for a subscription fee following the conclusion of the free two-year trial.
Super All-Wheel Control for Unmatched Handling
Choosing an all-wheel drive Eclipse Cross, the vehicle is fitted with Mitsubishi's proprietary, advanced S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) system. The system enhances both straight-line stability and cornering performance by precisely controlling the torque supplied to each of the four wheels. The S-AWC system is an integration of the vehicle dynamics control system that monitors each component around the 4WD system, including Active Stability Control (ASC), Anti-lock Brakes (ABS), and Active Yaw Control (AYC).
The system uses the smart application of brake force to manage the supply of torque to the left and right wheels, resulting in improved stability and control. It's based on the same principles as the S-AWC systems in the Outlander and Outlander PHEV, and it builds upon Mitsubishi's legacy of all-wheel control technology.
The S-AWC system also uses an advanced sensor monitoring system to detect driver and vehicle behavior. Sensor inputs include steering angle, wheel speed, engine torque, transmission gear ratio, yaw rate, longitudinal/lateral acceleration and brake pressure. Three driver-selectable modes (AUTO, SNOW, GRAVEL) are available on-demand to enhance the S-AWC performance and logic of the system. The selectable modes allow drivers to tailor the level of all-wheel drive assist and response that best suits their preferences depending on the driving conditions.
Technology for All Around Safety
Advanced safety technology supports safer, more confident driving - in all kinds of conditions and settings. From intelligent sensors that track the vehicle's surroundings to active driver assistance and solid passive protection, the Eclipse Cross delivers a complete portfolio of advanced optional safety features.
Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Lane Change Assist (LCA) - This safety feature uses radar sensors in the rear bumper to detect vehicles in rear blind spots, on the right and left sides. An indicator appears in the door mirror when BSW is active and the turn signals are off. When a vehicle is detected and the turn signals are on, an indicator blinks in the door mirror on that side and a warning sound is given to the driver.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) - An indicator appears in the combination meter display when RCTA is active. If radar sensors in the rear bumper detect an approaching vehicle nearby while reverse gear is engaged, a warning message appears in the multi-information display, an audible alert sounds and an indicator blinks in both door mirrors.
Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) with Pedestrian Detection- Helps prevent a frontal collision or reduce the severity of that collision if it becomes unavoidable. Responds to vehicles and pedestrians via camera and laser radar.
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) - The Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system uses an onboard camera to monitor lane position in front of the vehicle audibly and visually, alerting the driver if it detects the vehicle leaving its lane unintentionally.
Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC) - Maintains a selected distance between the vehicle and the car ahead via radar for greater safety and peace of mind.
Multi-View Camera System8 - The views from cameras mounted on the front, rear and sides of the vehicle (including a bird's-eye view) can be displayed in various combinations to help reveal what is around your vehicle and help you park.
Automatic High Beam (AHB) - These headlights automatically adjust between brightness levels depending on the surrounding lights.

The 2020 Eclipse Cross is offered in five models: the base ES, LE, SP, SE and SEL. The Eclipse Cross comes well-equipped in the base ES model, with standard features, including: newly redesigned 16-inch alloy wheels with a machine finish and black accents, heated power side view mirrors, rear spoiler, color multi-information display screen, high-contrast meters, Bluetooth wireless technology, steering wheel audio and phone controls, rearview camera, cruise control, automatic climate control, power door locks and windows, seven airbags and anti-theft alarm.
From there, customers can choose the unique appearance Limited Edition (LE) trim with black 18-inch alloy wheels and unique black color exterior accents. The LE trim also includes the 7-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) system with Apple CarPlay(TM) and Android Auto(TM) compatibility.
Customers looking to make a stylish and sporty impression can choose the Special Edition (SP) trim, which includes all the features of the LE trim, plus a unique carbon-style grille, side mirrors, large rear spoiler, front, side, and rear air dam extensions, a black hood badge and a rear Special Edition badge.
Moving up to the SE trim includes standard safety features, including Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM) with Pedestrian Detection2, Lane Departure Warning (LDW)3 and Automatic High Beams (AHB)4 as standard equipment. SE trims also include other standard features such as BSW, RCTA, LCA, heated front seats, Fast-key passive entry with push button start, electronic parking brake w/auto hold, MITSUBISHI CONNECT with 2-year safeguard and remote services trial, 18-inch two-tone Alloy wheels, and silver, chrome, and gloss black exterior styling accents. SE buyers can also choose an optional Panoramic Sunroof with Roof Rails package.
The SEL trim includes all the safety features included on the SE trim, while also coming equipped with luxury features such as leather appointed seating surfaces, LED headlights, Head-Up Display (HUD), the Multi-View Camera system, a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats.
An available Touring package on the SEL trim includes the dual-pane power sliding panoramic sunroof, 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate(R) premium audio system, advanced safety technology (FCM-HSB, LDW, ACC, AHB), and heated steering wheel and rear seats.
