- 2008 North American International Auto Show - Misc
Some cars at the 2008 NAIAS don't attract quite as much attention as the show-stoppers that grab all the media attention. Sometimes these vehicles have been revealed at other press events or auto shows, or they have been around for a while, and the newness has faded. True automotive enthusiasts can't pass the BMW M3 without a second glance, or some time in the driver's seat. Mitsubishi's classic Galant GTO will bring back memories of Japanese subcompacts from the 70s. Cadillac's Provoq concept bears more than a passing resemblance to the Saturn Vue SUV. Lexus stashed the new LX570 at the back of its display area, as if to de-emphasive its thirsty SUV. Chinese manufacturers such as Geely and BYD showed cars that slavishly imitated vehicles from European manufacturers. CR-X fans hope that the CR-Z concept signals the revival of one of Honda's most beloved cars. If you saw the movie "Transformers", then don't miss the Camaro Bumblebee concept. GM also brought over an Opel Corsa OPC subcompact to gauge public reaction. Pontiac's long-suffering customers finally get to see the production version of the G8 sedan. The Nissan GT-R has been hyped beyond belief, but this is its first appearance at the NAIAS. If you have the time, these cars and trucks at the 2008 NAIAS are worth a close look.
