Leaving its traditional venue at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, the new Concours d'Elegance of America moved to Plymouth, Michigan. The expansive grounds of the golf course at The Inn at St. John's were perfectly suited for the larger Concours. Notable for 2011 Concours was the variety of American pre-WWII cars, as well as an impressive collection of Mercedes-Benz vehicles dating from 1886 Patent-Motorwagen to 300SL sports cars from mid-1950s. An impressive collection of Indianapolis racers arranged in a simulated starting grid dating revealed racing technology progress over the decades. A few stunning European classics included a Ferrari 250GT Tour de France, Maserati Sebring, Facel Vega II, and an Aston Martin DB5/6 Volante. The current Ferrari model lineup was also on display, while Ford showed the race-ready Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca. Even though few locations can match the ambiance of Meadow Brook Hall, the Concours d'Elegance of America is a better show than ever.
