By most accounts, the Lexus LS is perfect. Outstanding levels of build quality and reliability have propelled it to the top of a short list of large luxury automobiles. The LS is offered in two wheelbases with a 4.6L V8 under the hood, yielding the LS460 and LS460L models. While the LS460 is roughly the same size as the outgoing mode, the L model adds almost 5 inches of length. The styling of the LS gives it the distinct presence that its predecessors lacked. The V8 is rated at 380hp and 370 lb-ft of torque (a 100hp improvement) should be sufficient to propel the large sedan from 0-60 in a claimed 5.5s. The transmission is the industry's first 8-speed automatic. On the inside, the LS features new levels of luxury and the long wheelbase model even offers a rear seat package with a reclining ottoman, personal DVD player and cooler. A host of electronics and driving aids will round out the package including a system that will assist in parking the car for you.
