When the first Beetle rolled off the production line, it was simply called the Volkswagen-"the people's car"-but its distinctive shape inspired nicknames across the globe and, in the end, Beetle stuck. In total, 21.5 million cars were sold, making it the most popular car manufactured off a single platform of all time. Now, even after more than 60 years of being sold in America, the Beetle still rekindles the spirit and imagination of the original for...

After a number of changes in 2014, the Beetle range sees minimal updates for 2015. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine TDI(R) Clean Diesel engine will be replaced by the new 150-hp EA288 2.0-liter diesel engine, which makes 10 more horsepower than the outgoing model. The Beetle TDI equipped with the optional six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission improves EPA estimated highway fuel economy from 39 to 41 mpg compared with the previous diesel engine. In addition, a new limited-edition...
The third-generation of the internationally beloved Beetle has been a big success for Volkswagen in the U.S., ever since it went on sale in September of 2011. Originally available with 2.5-liter and 2.0-liter TSI(R) engines, the Beetle added a TDI(R) Clean Diesel to the range for the 2013 model year. For 2014, the Beetle range receives a number of enhancements, trim line changes, and a new special edition model, the GSR(R). The base Beetle's 2.5-liter engine...

GSR - a quaint abbreviation with a legendary predecessor: the "Yellow/Black Racer" based on the Beetle 1303 S. And only 3,500 cars of the earlier model were produced as well. Exactly...
Volkswagen R GmbH has developed the R-Line for drivers who want the sporty and aggressive styling of the Volkswagen R models, but without the additional performance. In Germany, many of Volkswagen's best-selling vehicles are available with an R-Line derivative, but until now this has only been the case with the CC in the U.S. That will change when the Beetle R-Line goes on sale in early 2013. Offered only on the Turbo model, the Beetle R-Line...

The third-generation of the internationally beloved Beetle went on sale in September of 2011, in 2.5-liter and Turbo forms. The car was an immediate success, and the momentum continues into the 2013 model year with the launch of the frugal TDI Clean Diesel Model. Later in the year, the Beetle Fender Edition makes its debut in the U.S. market. A marriage of icons from the worlds of music and the automobile, the Beetle Fender Edition stands...

A look back to the start: at the beginning Volkswagen built one of the most successful cars of all time and did not even give it a name. Why should it? After all, it was the Volkswagen! People loved it, and on all of the world's continents the small car was nicknamed according to precisely what it looked like: Beetle, Käfer, Vocho, Coccinelle, Fusca, Maggiolino or 甲壳虫! It embodied the automotive concept itself and symbolised the...
